Get answers to common questions about Toner.
A Toner typically lasts four to six weeks depending on hair porosity, color intensity, and home care. Purple shampoos, heat styling, and sun exposure can shorten longevity, while sulfate-free products help preserve tone longer.
Professional toners are formulated to be gentle and deposit pigment without lifting hair. When applied by our stylists and used with conditioning treatments, toners rarely cause damage; pre-existing damage increases risk, so consultation is recommended.
Toners can neutralize brassiness in many cases, but results vary based on underlying pigments and hair condition. Strongly orange tones or heavy damage may require corrective color or multiple sessions for optimal, lasting neutralization.
Generally we can apply toner immediately after a bleaching service to refine tone, provided the hair integrity is good. If hair is overly damaged, your stylist may recommend conditioning or waiting a short time before toning.
Patch tests aren't always required for toners, but we may recommend one for clients with sensitive skin, a history of reactions, or when using new formulations. Your stylist will advise based on your allergy history and product choice.
Use sulfate-free shampoos, purple or color-safe maintenance products as recommended, limit washing to preserve pigment, protect hair from sun and heat, and schedule regular glossing or toner refresh appointments with our stylists to sustain vibrancy.
